It's about falsified statistics, but this time not... "Greek statistics". EUROSTAT and the IMF are responsible for this forgery, which made the Greek deficit appear higher than it should be, in order to justify more and harsher fiscal / austerity measures. IF you know nothing about this issue, watch the video to get get a fairly good general picture of the ELSTAT scandal (which could also be called the "Eurostat scandal" because EUROSTAT dictated the erroneous statistics to the Greek Statistical Authority). Normally, the deficit for 2009 should be about 12% of GDP. It was inflated to 15.4% by including in the state expenses certain companies of the wider public sector which should not have been included, as explained by Ms. Zoi Georganta, a greek professor of Econometrics and former board member of the newly re-organised Greek Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).

Thank you Alison and Tony for your explanations. You obviously have a lot more smarts than many in the media, despite being virtual.
I wish people would have listened last year when the SYRIZA member in the video raised the very points that now are causing a scandal. I only hope the investigation is pursued. Too many investigations seem to eventually fall into a black hole of the Greek justice system, never to be heard about again.
